# Introduction to Support vector machines (SVMs)

In machine learning, most of the beginners stated to learning about the support vector regression. This is also known as support vector networks. There are lots of tools available in the machine learning algorithm, you have to use those tools at a right time. The SVMs algorithm has smaller datasets, but it is strong and powerful for building the probabilistic model in machine learning.

SVMs which can be used for both the classification of the datasets and regression challenges. It is a discriminative classifier of the given labeled datasets, yields the output of algorithm an optimal hyperplane that differentiate the two classes (hyper-plane and lines).

# Support Vector Machines basic properties:

SVMs are a linear classifier and can be deciphered as an extension of the perceptron. Also, they can be viewed as an extraordinary instance of Tikhonov regularization (method of regularization for unstructured problems). ## Advantages of the SVMs:

- Separating the margin.
- It works excellent in the high dimensional spaces.
- If the number of dimensions is greater than the number of samples, then SVMs algorithm is effective.

**Disadvantages of the SVM are the classified based on three perspectives:**

- Uncalibrated class membership probabilities
- Algorithms that decreases the multi-class SVM to a few binary issues.
- It’s hard to interrupt the parameter of the solved model.
